By providing a free consultation, our experienced and knowledgeable team will develop a customized solution based on project scope, owner intentions and technical preferences. The final deliverable is tailored to reduce the risk associated with uncertain existing conditions.
Data collection and processing is completed with a speed and accuracy that is unmatched by competing technologies. All deliverables are oriented to existing survey control or drawings to achieve maximum communication between team members, resulting in projects built with confidence.
The raw pointcloud data is converted into solid geometry and classified based on trade. If working in a BIM environment, intelligence is added to the model to enhance the client’s experience. Lastly, a ScanWorks project manager visits the site to assist in integration of the model and to review it for quality control.
Deliverables
Many things seen and unseen can easily bring your project to a halt. For this reason, ScanWorks provides many varieties of deliverable design tool packages based on high-quality point cloud data from our Leica scanner and fleshed out by our world-class workflows. ScanWorks feels that it is important for each member of the design team whether they are technical, executive or labor to have easy to understand design tools and we tailor that mix for each project. These design tool deliverables include:
BIM ready 3D Revit and AutoCAD files targeted to architects, designers, and modeling teams
2D AutoCAD drawings with or without full title block borders for design teams that don't work in 3D
3D NavisWorks models that help with planning and coordination teams
Our custom Obstruction Analysis Report package This package consists of spreadsheet data that shows your design combined with site scans, 2D drawings and 3D models and indicates areas where your design will run into (or be obstructed) by existing construction.
Another important service is as-built modeling of your job site which will allow you to see obstructions before you even begin designing your project
We provide all data files in industry-standard formats based upon your individual needs.

Welcome
ScanWorks strives to offer a no risk solution to the typical problems that plague today's design and construction process. Incorporating high-definition surveying throughout the life of a capital improvement or renovation project ensures confidence in both budget and schedule. In essence, unexpected complications and delays are minimized, which leaves all parties in better control of their exposure and risk.
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a truly effective tool for coordination and risk management on capital improvement projects. Improved detection and communication of potential conflicts and the ability to visualize phasing plans throughout a project’s life-cycle has introduced an unprecedented level of understanding. BIM represents a true revolution in the AEC industry leading many owners to mandate its use.
Yet, this sophisticated virtual platform and the conflict resolution effort it provides hinges on one simple fact. Garbage in, garbage out. Why spend hours resolving a conflict between your plumbing and your structural designs if the existing structural columns are not where the drawings say they are? This is primarily a problem with projects that seek to renovate or add to an existing building. In these troubled economic times, many owners are motivated to embrace renovation in place of building new ones. Consequentially, designers and contractors are faced with erroneous and sometimes missing as-built drawings that threaten the validity of their newly developed programs and concepts.
ScanWorks offers a solution. Through high-definition laser scanning, a 3D model can be generated that is accurate to 1/4” and oriented to the existing survey control and/or drawings. From this template designers can proceed with confidence that their plans can be implemented as intended and thus providing a preliminary clash analysis against real-world conditions. Likewise, contractors can use a 3D model based on a laser scan to check for potential pitfalls with the new design and reduce the risks associated with existing conditions.
