Laser scanning requirements in project specifications

A recently released specification for an upcoming project at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas contains a section that specifically calls for a laser scan of an area within the scope. It reads, "...coordination with the existing bag system is critical and the contractor must engage a laser survey of the conditions above the ceiling." A laser scan of that particularly complex area will not only ensure a smooth installation of the new system, but also give the contractor a tremendous head start in clearing a path.

ScanWorks would like to take a moment to applaud the foresight of Continental airlines, Parsons/3DI, the Houston airport authority, and all other parties involved for their excellent foresight.
