Business Situation

Gensler requested ScanWorks services to complete a laser scan and provide a 3D Autodesk Revit model for their clients Jones Lang LaSalle.  The office space in Santa Clara, CA was about to have an overhaul in preparation for new building owners.  Gensler required ScanWorks to come in on Friday after-hours, scan the entire building and have all work and cleanup complete by the start of work Monday morning with no trace of activity.

Technical Response

ScanWorks scanned the entire office including all cubicles, offices, halls, doors, windows and stairways.  In addition, ScanWorks took down the ceiling tiles, completed a full scan of the above-ceiling elements and replaced the ceiling tiles.

Solution

Back in the office, ScanWorks CAD personnel processed the scan data into 3D Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD deliverables that includes the following:

 

• Data geo-referenced to existing Gensler 3D model
  
• All geometry in Autodesk Revit format and compliant to Gensler CAD Standards
  
• Building Structure including: walls, ceiling, beams, columns, seismic bracing, doors and windows
  
• Major MEP systems including control panels, lighting and HVAC system
  
• Miscellaneous permanently installed objects
  
• Photo-documentation of all areas scanned
