Success in Orlando. Review sessions make a difference.

mco bpx019 151In Orlando, FL we were asked to scan an existing area that was currently not being used for baggage handling, but was being reconditioned for that purpose. The purpose was to document existing conditions three dimensionally that not only assisted with the mitigation of MEP relocation and confirmed the location of structural members, but also identified potential obstructions with the new design. After the interior partitions and drop ceilings were demolished we stepped in for one week to scan an area that measured 57,000 sq.ft.

scan_151_bWe modeled every beam, column, wall, pipe and conduit in the area. Likewise, we submitted an obstruction report that included over 100 objects that were interfering with the conveyor right of way. Of these were objects that were found to cause a major interference to the planned workflow. In all, the scan more than paid for itself in overtime and last minute changes that would have been required to resolve the issues.

scan_pipesWhere PCL felt the ScanWorks difference was in our follow-up review sessions. Once the deliverable was completed, a ScanWorks Review Session was scheduled. One of our project managers went on-site and went item by item sorting out the items that were not critical or scheduled to be moved. Effectually reducing the list to a more managable amount. A walk-through of the site helped PCL's staff understand exactly what the report's findings indicated and allowed them to start making decisions. Our project manager facilitated the process of taking a static report and translating it into practical feedback that the contractor could use to make some tough decisions.
