ScanWorks general manager, Jose Mesa was invited to speak at the fourth annual Airport Project Delivery Summit hosted jointly by ACI, ACC and AGC. The summit took place from June 3rd to the 4th in historic Savannah, Georgia. As part of a panel of experts discussing emerging trends in the airport industry, Jose covered the basics of 3D laser scanning and how it supplements building information modeling (BIM) and project coordination. "There is a natural segue to laser scanning in any discussion about applying BIM to an existing building" states Jose. Laser scanning is used to document existing conditions and generate a BIM-ready 3D model. This model serves as a starting point from which the design team can proceed with confidence.
